2. Plot Analysis

Summary of the Movie:

                        A middle class man Kanji Bhai manages his family by the running of a statue shop. He has his wife, a daughter and a son to be cared for. He is basically an atheist.  One day he has a quarrel with a Hindu priest and curses God. That day night his shop is ruined by the earthquake. The insurance company refuses to pay him the compensation saying that this loss took place due to the act of God and so the company is not liable to pay him the compensation. Dejected Kanji decides to file a case against God. No advocate was ready to take up the case and fight for his cause; hence he decides to fight his own case advised by a good advocate. He places his arguments and files the case against the places where God is said to be residing (Temples, Churches and Masques). The people who face the same problem join with him to fight for their cause. His wife and children leave him due to no safety at home and live in the relative’s house. It is at this time God himself comes to his rescue, stays with him and guides him in the process of fighting the case. Kanji argues well and is popular in all sectors. On the last day of the hearing in the court he falls sick and admitted in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) lying paralyzed and in coma. He remains in the hospital paralyzed and unconscious for one month. One day God who was staying with him in disguise comes to the room and cures Kanji and reveals His true identity as God. Then God shows him what had happened in the past one month. Kanji comes to know that he had won the case and the compensation had been paid to all people by the religious institutions that he had accused of running religion as money making industry. He also comes to know that priests of those institutions have planed to make him an avatar of Lord Vishnu and have decided a death day for him. He escapes form the hospital with the help of God and goes to the place where the priests have planed to erect his statue. He re-emphasizes the fact that religions is for man and not man for religion. He also brings in to notice that God lives in the hearts of the human beings; the religion should not make the worship places as moneymaking centers and destroys his image that was erected there. Then he goes on to introduce God to his family but by then God disappears and tells him that he is present everywhere and invites him to see God in all beings.

3. Technical Analysis:

The techniques used in the movie are amazing. The cinematography is excellent and worthy of our praise.  I would say that the entire team and the director Mr. Umesh Shukla have done a marvelous job.  Mr. Himesh Reshammiya the music composer has played his part very well, the apt music for the scenes give the right atmosphere for the scenes throughout the movie.  The camera man and director of photography have paid noteworthy attention to the minor details of the capturing of emotions of face or depicting the religious symbols and so on. The different shots like tilt, close up, trolley, over view angel and lover view angle are very apt for the particular scenes and are very enhancing. The costume and make up sector have done an excellent job by keeping the costume and make up simple and best. The lighting and sound for the movie is southing to eyes and ear and are planed meticulously. Though there are lot of room for the editors in adding new techniques that the recent technology offers the editing is ample and done in appropriation with the theme of the movie. Over all I would say that technically speaking this movie is sound and deserves my appreciation.

4. Sociological Analysis:

            This movie basically highlights the religion and its misuse. This movie presents religion at this present scenario and shows clear how in the name of religion people are being manipulated. In the bargain it also presents the truths about God. Though the story seems to be little negative it expresses a very profound positive philosophy about God. It stresses on the point that God is present everywhere, instead of wasting the money on a statue this movie invites every individual to take care of the poor and needy. I would say that this movie is more concerned about the social welfare. It invites the individual who are engaged in the heartless manipulation of the innocent people to have a conversion of heart. By and large this movie in no way goes against the social concerns.

5. Education through the Film:

            I cannot but say that this movie is filled with lots of messages for the people at this present scenario. One might tend to say that this movie is calling for the destruction of the religion and so in a way trying to make man God and throw away God. But it is not the case at all, this movie educates the audience to rethink about the blind religious beliefs and rituals that they had been holing on to it for generations. It is not educating people against the concept of religion and God rather it is education the people to purify their understating of God and religion. It expresses clearly that God is the source of everything and he wants to see everyone in this world living their life to the full. It creates a social awareness and invites people to look around the misery around rather than concentration on fulfilling the blind rituals which are not founded on the human reason.

6. Critical Evaluation:

            The primary purpose of the movie is to create awareness to the audience. This gains the prominence in the movie. Yet the inclusion of a song without any connection to the storyline shows the secondary purpose of the movie which seems to be commercial. This movie clarifies lots of ideas about God. This movie is a good example of how media and religion could influence each other. In this movie the media achieves it secondary purpose which is purely commercial and also achieves the primary purpose of presenting the purified concept of religion and God. I would say that its effort to communicate to the audience the purified concept of God is successful. It presents God as a friend who created the entire world and all that it contains. The religion is not God made rather it is the intervention of human beings to praise and worship God, though the motive for the institution of religion was good in the course of time it has failed to fulfill the purpose for which it was invented by the human beings.  The idea that I am most appreciative of in this movie is the concept that religion exists for man and not man for religion.  This movie gives and invitation to see God in all individuals.      

            There are lots of positive elements in this movie but I cannot remain silent about some things which in a way remain hindrance to look at the positives. There are some elements which can be criticized form the point of view of different religion but I am not entering in to that, my concern is to show only the general ones. This movie has a statement that religion and beliefs are addictive, but my concern is what is the reason and purpose to make a statement of this sort, it seems that this movie is trying to say that people are in search of God more because of this addiction rather than the true inner dispositions. This movie also has a statement with goes thus, “The religion and caste today makes and individual either terrorist or helpless.” As for me personally this view seems to be condemning all the religions in general and branding them as cause of social disorders while religions hold a major part in social order and stability.
